Alverno College Eight Abilities
-While attending alverno college I have put to use the eight abilites required to be a competent nurse. The abilities at Alverno college are communication, valuing, problem solving, analysis, social interaction, global perspective, effective citizenship, and aesthetic engagement. I identify my strengths as well as some of my weaknesses in these eight abilities. I also identify how each individual ability has contributed to my success and growth as a nursing student.
-I have had many expectations while attending Alverno because it is a liberal arts college with a focus on the eight abilities. I have learned to work with others to enhance my own learning. I have gained knowledge about community and global issues. I was able to draw from my own experiences along with my knowledge of the eight abilities to have a solid foundation to be a successful nurse.

Research paper
I have completed a research paper while at Alverno College. In order to complete my research paper I needed to propose a reseach topic. The question that I researched was, "What is the level of knowledge among a group of women who are members of a large urban congregation about the symptoms associated with heart attacks in women?” My goal was to find out how knowledgeable women are about the symptoms of a heart attack so as a nurse I could focus my teaching on the appropriate symptoms. In the paper I discuss the Middle Range Theory of Unpleasent Symptoms in releation to heart attacks.

What is a professional nurse?
In this paper I discuss what it means to me to be a professional nurse. I talk about having respect and kindness, knowledge, and committment for the good of the patient. I also discuss the importance of using evidence based knowledge to solve problems and provide the best care possible to patients.
